
At Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU), International Women's Day on March 8th was celebrated with various events, while Rector Türkdoğan handed out carnations to female staff.
International Women's Day on March 8th was marked by vibrant scenes across the country, and it was also celebrated at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) with various activities. In the first event of the day, ALKU Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan handed out flowers to the female staff in memory of March 8 International Women's Day. While distributing flowers, Rector Türkdoğan chatted with the female employees and took note of their requests. Speaking about the meaning and importance of the day, Rector Türkdoğan said,"You are very valuable to us. I hope that International Women's Day will serve as an opportunity for more progress and opportunities for our women." Many other events held throughout the day at ALKU were attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kılıç, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karahan, ALKU Secretary General Hüseyin Er, deans, department heads, academics, and students.
MARCH 8 WAS A BUSY DAY
ALKU Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (ALKUKAM) hosted events for March 8 International Women's Day in cooperation with Alanya City Municipality and Alanya Social Service Directorate. During these events, a "Strong Women, Strong Society" discussion was held with the participation of guests to raise awareness about women's rights and violence against women. The discussion, held at the Education Faculty's Head Teacher Atatürk Conference Hall, was moderated by ALKUKAM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Akça. The speakers included Uzm. Dr. Hale Bozkurt, Uzm. Dr. Tuğba Dağaşan, Psychological Counselor Gülsüm Türkeli, Social Services Specialist Duygu Urlu, Lecturer Leyla Akbulut, Psychotherapist Yasemin Şahin, Farmer Kristina Hüddoğlu, Family Counselor Ayten Güngörmüş, and Psychologist İrem Gül Sönmez, who shared their experiences and spoke about the strength of women. ALKUKAM’s event was attended by Alanya Municipal Council Members Ufuk Aras Solmaz, İrem Yunusoğlu, Ayşe Yakar Anılgan, Halime Dim Ceylan. During the discussion, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karahan emphasized the place and importance of women in Turkish society.
BEAUTIFUL EBRU ARTWORKS
The activities continued with an Ebru Art Workshop, organized by ALKUKAM and Alanya Municipality. The workshop was conducted by Handicrafts Teacher Ayşegül Macar Koçak. In this workshop, students and ALKU Lifelong Learning University students made ebru artworks under the guidance of Teacher Ayşegül
ARTWORKS ATTRACTED GREAT INTEREST
In the final event of the day, an "International Women's Day Exhibition" was held at the Alanya Municipality Cultural Center, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Akça and curated by Lecturer Serdar Aslan, with contributions from the Hürkuş Aviators Club and ALKU Art and Design Club. The exhibition was opened by Alanya Municipal Council Members Ufuk Aras Solmaz, İrem Yunusoğlu, Ayşe Yakar Anılgan, Halime Dim Ceylan, and ALKU Secretary General Hüseyin Er. The exhibition attracted significant participation, and attendees learned that the paintings were prepared using innovative methods. Secretary General Hüseyin Er presented a certificate of appreciation to Curator Lecturer Serdar Arslan for his contributions to the exhibition.The event ended with a group photo. During the International Women's Day events, carnations and gifts were presented to female employees by Eğitim Bir-Sen and the Turkish World Science and Art Society.
GIFTS GIVEN TO TEACHERS
A visit was organized to Muzkent Primary School with the participation of Gazipaşa Mustafa Rahmi Büyükballı Vocational School, Gazipaşa Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, ALKU Gazipaşa Personal Development, and ALKU Gazipaşa Hürkuş Aviators Clubs. The visit was attended by Gazipaşa District National Education Director Remzi Yetkin, department heads, Gazipaşa Mustafa Rahmi Büyükballı Vocational School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kahyaoğlu, Assistant Director Lecturer Ömer Yenipazarlı, club students, and Muzkent Village Head Fatih Görgülüer. On the occasion of International Women's Day, club students presented their handmade origami gifts to the female teachers and staff at the primary school. The event concluded with the presentation of various gifts to kindergarten and primary school students and a photo session.
