RECTOR TÜRKDOĞAN: ‘ONE OF THE MOST SACRED PROFESSIONS IN HUMAN HISTORY’

‘14 March Medical Day is a symbol of sacrifice, knowledge and respect for human life.’ Rector Türkdoğan said, ’Today, we are here to honour one of the oldest and most sacred professions in human history. In every period of history, physicians have stood against not only diseases but also ignorance, helplessness and fear; they have been a light to humanity. Health is the greatest treasure of a society and you are the ones who protect this treasure. The white coat is a responsibility, an oath, an acknowledgement of conscience. Wearing that coat requires being faithful to science, serving humanity and always acting with compassion. Dear students, today you are taking your first steps into the honourable journey of this profession. Do not forget that the presence of a physician is hope for patients and trust for society. As Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, we not only produce science, but also work with all our strength to strengthen the health infrastructure of this region and to provide the best service to our people. Every graduate we equip with knowledge and experience will contribute to the health of this geography and leave a mark on the future.’

DEAN ATIFOĞLU ‘MEDICINE IS PRACTISED WITH HEART’

ALKU Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu, who expressed his great happiness to witness the excitement of the students, said: ‘14 March Medical Day is not only the holiday of a professional group; it is also the holiday of science, human love and dedication. Because medicine is an art that is performed not only with knowledge but also with heart. Dear students, today you will put on your white coats. Your white coats represent your conscience as well as your knowledge. Because the scalpel in the hand of a physician is not only a tool that cuts and cuts, but also a touch that restores hope. When you look into the eyes of your patients, you will see a human story. You should know their pain as your pain and their hope as your hope. Sometimes you will heal not with a prescription but with a warm smile. Because medicine requires compassion before knowledge and human love before technique. While walking on this path, you will encounter difficulties. There will be sleepless nights, difficult decisions and tiring days. However, you should know that being able to touch the life of a human being and restore them to health is one of the greatest honours in the world. Never leave the light of science, never lose your love for your profession and always listen to the voice of your conscience.’

After the speeches, ALKU Faculty of Medicine academicians made the students wear their white coats. The ceremony ended after a collective memorial photo.
