
A project initiated in collaboration between Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) Faculty of Dentistry and Alanya Municipality has launched oral and dental health screenings for individuals with special needs .
Thanks to its collaborations with various institutions, ALKÜ continues to support the community. Most recently, a partnership between the ALKÜ Faculty of Dentistry and Alanya Municipality resulted in the launch of oral and dental health screenings for individuals with special needs.Based on the screening results, a treatment plan was created for those requiring further care. As part of this initiative, dental screenings were conducted for individuals with special needs at Alanya Municipality’s Life Center. The screening, carried out with contributions from expert dentists and students of the Faculty of Dentistry, also included informative sessions and preventive treatment procedures related to oral and dental health for individuals with special needs. The screening event was attended by Alanya Municipality Chief Advisor Faruk Konukçu, Alanya Municipality Director of Social Assistance Affairs Hüseyin Doğan, and Alanya Municipality Life Center Coordinator Münir Altıoğlu. The team was accompanied by ALKÜ Faculty of Dentistry Application and Research Center Vice Dean Dr. Tansu Çimen.

Alanya Municipality Chief Advisor Faruk Konukçu emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with special needs, stating, “With the opportunities provided by our university, we have developed this project to further improve the quality of life for individuals with special needs and integrate them into a better life. We are working to provide them with access to all the facilities our city and university can offer. Our university professors carried out all necessary dental procedures, including X-rays, extractions, and tartar cleaning for the participants here today. I can say that we will continue to open our university’s resources to meet the needs of individuals with special needs at regular intervals. Our collaboration with our university will continue to grow. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Dentistry for making this initiative possible.”

Dr. Tansu Çimen, Vice Dean of ALKÜ Faculty of Dentistry Application and Research Center, stated, “As ALKÜ Faculty of Dentistry, today we conducted examinations and treatment planning for some of the individuals with special needs living in Alanya with the collaboration of Alanya Municipality. We will continue to work together with Alanya Municipality to provide treatment services for all individuals with special needs at our Faculty of Dentistry.”
