With the contributions of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU), a conference on “The Importance of Helmets and Protective Equipment in Traffic and Two-Wheeled Vehicles” was held in Gazipaşa.
The seventh conference on “The Importance of Helmets and Protective Equipment in Traffic and Two-Wheeled Vehicles”, first organized by Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) in 2019, was held at Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Gazipaşa Cultural Center. Hosted by ALKÜ Gazipaşa Mustafa Rahmi Büyükballı Vocational School, the event was supported by institutions such as the Antalya Governorship, Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Antalya Provincial Police Department, Gazipaşa District Governorship, Gazipaşa Municipality, Gazipaşa District Gendarmerie Command, and Gazipaşa District Police Department. The conference was organized under the coordination of ALKÜ’s Department of Health, Culture, and Sports, along with ALKÜ Motorcycle and Personal Development Communities, and led by academic advisors Lecturer Serdar Aslan and Lecturer Ömer Yenipazarlı.
The event was attended by ALKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu, ALKÜ Secretary-General Onur Ocakdan, Gazipaşa Deputy Mayor Selçuk Özdemir, Dean of Gazipaşa Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences Prof. Dr. Atılgan Atılgan, Director of Gazipaşa Mustafa Rahmi Büyükballı Vocational School Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kahyaoğlu, ALKÜ Motorcycle Community Academic Advisor Lecturer Serdar Aslan, Gazipaşa Personal Development Community Academic Advisor Lecturer Ömer Yenipazarlı, as well as other local officials.
Within the scope of the conference, J. Staff Sgt. Ahmet Özker from Gazipaşa District Gendarmerie Command, Mehmet Çetinkılıç, Traffic Registration Inspection Bureau Chief from Gazipaşa District Police Department, Uğur Uzun, President of Alanya Motospor Club, Muhammed Bahadır Kip, Health Technician from Gazipaşa District State Hospital, and İsmail Biçer, the owner of the "Life is Beautiful for Motorcyclists" account, who actively works on motorcycle awareness, informed the participants with their presentations.
Topics such as the risks faced by motorcycle and other two-wheeled vehicle users in traffic, measures to be taken to prevent motorcycle accidents, the vital importance of helmets and protective equipment, and the medical interventions to be applied after an accident were discussed in detail by experts. The conference, which attracted great interest from national education and higher education students, was enlivened by a small theater performance.
At the end of the conference, certificates of appreciation and plaques were presented to the participants and those who supported the event. Additionally, with the contributions of business people from Alanya and Gazipaşa, helmets and protective equipment were given as gifts to young motorcycle users through a raffle. Following the conference, practical traffic safety training was conducted by traffic teams of the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command in a traffic-free area between 14:30 and 17:30.
