
Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKU) Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan participated in the Turkey-Oman Knowledge Dialogue Symposium, held in Oman to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Turkey and Oman.
ALKU continues its efforts to enable its academics and students to study and develop joint projects with universities worldwide. The Turkey-Oman Knowledge Dialogue Symposium was organized from January 20-22, 2025, in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, the Embassy of Turkey in Muscat, and the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History.
Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan attended the symposium alongside ALKU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Atıf Bayramoğlu. The event, held in Muscat, brought together Turkish and Omani academics, bureaucrats, and diplomats with expertise in fields such as language, literature, history, international relations, arts, architecture, aviation, maritime studies, industry, and medicine. At the end of the symposium, bilateral meetings were held to explore collaboration opportunities between universities, faculties, and research centers from both countries.
During the opening session, Oman’s Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Rahma Bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, emphasized that the symposium aimed to strengthen cultural, scientific, and other collaborations between the two countries.
The symposium was attended by prominent figures, including Minister Rahma Bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Gazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Ankara Social Sciences University Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History Prof. Dr. Derya Örs, Turkish Ambassador to Muscat Prof. Dr. Muhammet Hekimoğlu, Kırıkkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Ersan Aslan, and President of the Turkish Language Association Prof. Dr. Osman Mert, alongside numerous academics and guests.
DISCUSSIONS ON OPPORTUNITIES IN TURKEY AND OMAN
Rector Türkdoğan engaged in discussions with rectors and representatives from various Omani universities, evaluating potential collaborations and exchange programs. He also met with Omani students interested in studying in Turkey, informing them about educational opportunities in both Turkey and Oman. Furthermore, the symposium facilitated in-depth discussions on potential collaborations between ALKU and Omani universities. Rector Türkdoğan expressed readiness to establish agreements with multiple universities in Oman in the near future.
ONGOING VISITS IN OMAN
During his visit to Oman, Rector Türkdoğan and other university representatives visited key institutions in the country. He paid a visit to Turkey’s Ambassador to Muscat, Prof. Dr. Muhammet Hekimoğlu, and presented a gift as a token of appreciation. Additionally, Rector Türkdoğan and his delegation met with the President of the Yunus Emre Institute, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aliy, to discuss potential collaborations for Turkish language education in Oman. The meeting also explored further educational and academic cooperation opportunities between Turkey and Oman.
